Aon and SecurityScorecard Forge Alliance to Bolster Cyber Risk Intelligence for Global Clients

By Michael Turner | Senior Markets Correspondent

In a significant move to address escalating cyber threats, global professional services firm Aon has entered a strategic partnership with cybersecurity ratings leader SecurityScorecard. The collaboration aims to fuse external risk intelligence with internal analytics, offering clients a more comprehensive toolkit for navigating the complex cyber insurance landscape.

The integration will see SecurityScorecard's "outside-in" risk management and monitoring tools deployed alongside Aon's proprietary CyQu data platform. CyQu is designed to provide actionable insights for risk decision-making. Together, the combined offering is positioned to help organizations identify publicly exposed digital assets, pinpoint vulnerabilities, and strengthen their posture for cyber underwriting processes.

"In today's environment, static assessments are not enough," said Brent Rieth, Global Head of Aon Cyber Solutions. "Merging SecurityScorecard's continuous external findings with the deep insights from CyQu and our consulting experts gives clients unprecedented visibility into their risk profile. This is critical for making informed, strategic decisions in a dynamic insurance market."

The partnership responds directly to pressures identified in Aon's own 2025 Global Risk Management Survey, which consistently ranks cyber attacks as the foremost concern for business leaders globally. Increased scrutiny from corporate boards, regulators, and investors is further driving demand for transparent, quantifiable risk management and resilience planning.

"This alliance is about enabling a shift from periodic check-ups to a persistent, intelligence-led view of cyber exposure," added Peter Jantzen, Chief Revenue Officer at SecurityScorecard. "It empowers organizations to make smarter, more proactive decisions regarding risk retention and transfer."

The announcement follows a period of robust financial performance for Aon. The firm recently reported a strong fourth quarter for 2025, with net income attributable to shareholders soaring to $1.7bn. This cyber initiative is part of Aon's broader investment in digital risk solutions, coming shortly after it expanded its proprietary Data Centre Lifecycle Insurance Programme by $1bn, citing accelerated investment in cloud, AI, and digital infrastructure.

Industry Voices React

Michael Thorne, CISO at a major retail bank: "This is a logical and necessary evolution. The synergy between external attack surface monitoring and internal risk analytics platforms like CyQu can significantly close visibility gaps. For underwriters and risk managers alike, richer data translates to more accurate pricing and better resilience planning."

Sarah Chen, Risk Analyst at a hedge fund: "While promising, the real test will be in the seamless integration and usability of this combined data stream. The market is flooded with point solutions; the value here hinges on Aon's ability to synthesize this into clear, actionable guidance for clients, not just more dashboards."

David Kroger, independent cybersecurity consultant: "Another day, another 'strategic partnership' between giants. This feels more like a marketing bundling exercise than a genuine innovation. Will this actually lower premiums or reduce claims? Or is it just creating another layer of costly complexity for companies already drowning in security alerts? I'm deeply skeptical until we see tangible outcomes."

Eleanor Vance, Director of Risk for a manufacturing conglomerate: "As a client, I welcome any tool that provides a more holistic and real-time picture of our cyber risk. The board asks tough questions about our exposure, and partnerships like this could finally give us the consolidated, authoritative data needed to answer them confidently."
