Beyond GPUs: The AI Memory Boom and Why Micron Could Be the Next Big Chip Story

The AI revolution, ignited by the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022, minted its first mega-winner: Nvidia. The chipmaker's valuation soared from hundreds of billions to trillions, powered by its dominance in GPUs. But as the industry matures, the next chapter is being written not just in processing power, but in the ability to feed data to those hungry processors at unprecedented speeds.

Enter Micron Technology. The company, a leader in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, is now positioned at the heart of a critical supply crunch. While tech giants like Meta plan to spend over $100 billion this year on AI infrastructure, analysts at firms like Goldman Sachs suggest total industry capital expenditures could approach half a trillion dollars by 2026.
