Finger Amputation Leads to Recall of Over 1,000 Giantex Lounge Chairs Sold on Amazon

A popular outdoor lounge chair sold on Amazon and through the manufacturer's website has been recalled after a consumer suffered a finger amputation while adjusting the seat, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced Thursday.
The recall involves roughly 1,155 Giantex outdoor lounge chairs, model number NP10025NY, which were sold from August 2023 through October 2025 for between $75 and $90. The chairs feature a five-position adjustable locking system, and the hazard lies in a pinch point that can trap fingers during adjustment — a design flaw that CPSC says poses an amputation risk.
According to the safety notice, Giantex confirmed it had received one report of a finger being completely severed while a user was adjusting the lounge chair. The identity and age of the injured person were not disclosed.
The chairs, manufactured in China and distributed primarily in California, are described as blue, 76 inches long, 23 inches wide, and 13 inches high, with a backrest adjustable from 13.5 to 26.5 inches. They were listed on both Giantex.com and Amazon.com.
The recall highlights a recurring safety concern in low-cost outdoor furniture, where adjustable mechanisms sometimes lack adequate guarding. Industry analysts note that similar pinch-point injuries have prompted recalls of reclining chairs and folding furniture in recent years, but the severity of an amputation makes this case particularly alarming for consumers.
Anyone who purchased the recalled chairs should stop using them immediately and contact Giantex for a full refund. The company is requiring consumers to destroy the chairs — by detaching the headrest pillow, cutting the fabric, and sending photographic proof of destruction — before receiving a refund. Prepaid return packages are also available upon request.
