Jägermeister Bounces Back: Herbal Liqueur Giant Returns to Growth in 2025

After a challenging 2024, Germany's Mast-Jägermeister has steered its iconic brand back into positive territory. The privately-held distiller announced today (March 3) that it generated revenues of €882 million in 2025, marking a 1.8% increase over the previous year's slump.

The core Jägermeister herbal liqueur brand proved to be the engine of recovery, with global volume sales climbing over 7% to 9.2 million nine-litre cases. This resurgence comes against a backdrop of stagnation or decline in several key global spirits markets, highlighting a notable consumer shift back towards the brand.

A significant growth driver was the successful launch of Jägermeister Orange. The citrus-infused variant, introduced in 2024, has already sold more than five million bottles, contributing meaningfully to the group's top line and exceeding internal expectations.

"In a year where many faced headwinds, we strengthened our position," said CEO Michael Volke. "Our depletions reached record levels worldwide—a testament to the brand's enduring strength. Jägermeister Orange has been a standout success from the start."

However, not all segments flourished. The group's stake in Teremana Tequila faced pressure, with volumes dipping from 1.1 million to 1 million cases, attributed to U.S. market challenges and inventory adjustments.

Looking to 2026, Volke struck a cautiously optimistic note, acknowledging expectations for limited tailwinds from international markets but expressing confidence in the brand's momentum and strategic focus on innovation.

Industry Voices React

Klaus Berger, Beverage Analyst at Frankfurt Financial Partners: "This rebound is more than just a recovery from a bad year. The 7% volume growth for the core product in a flat market shows Jägermeister is successfully re-engaging its base. The Orange variant isn't cannibalizing sales but expanding the occasion for consumption, which is a smart play."

Anya Petrova, Owner of 'The Bitter Truth' Cocktail Bar, Berlin: "I'm thrilled to see it. Jägermeister Orange has been a hit behind my bar—it's versatile. It brings in younger drinkers who might have seen the classic bottle as their parents' drink. This innovation was long overdue."

David Miller, Editor of 'Spirits Critique' Blog: "Let's not get carried away. A 1.8% revenue bump after a 10% crash is barely treading water. They're celebrating selling five million bottles of Orange, but that's a drop in the ocean for a giant. And their Tequila bet is already souring. This looks less like a turnaround and more like masking problems with flavored sugar water."

Maria Schmidt, Retail Buyer for a Major European Chain: "The numbers confirm what we see on shelves. The classic Jägermeister is stable, but the Orange SKU drives impulse purchases and seasonal sales, especially around summer. It's become a reliable performer in the liqueur segment."
