Milo Yiannopoulos, Right-Wing Provocateur, Deported to U.K. by ICE
The right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and is now back in the United Kingdom, according to federal authorities and multiple reports.
ICE arrested the 41-year-old British national on Aug. 27 at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, Louisiana. DHS said Yiannopoulos entered the U.S. legally through New York City on May 14, 2019, but overstayed his visa. An immigration judge issued a final order of removal on July 22 after Yiannopoulos skipped his hearing, and he was transferred to a Louisiana detention facility while awaiting a flight out of the country.
TMZ reported Saturday that ICE agents moved him from the Louisiana holding facility to an airport in another state, where he boarded a flight to the UK. The outlet said British authorities confirmed he had arrived back on home turf.
The removal carries an extra layer of political symbolism. Yiannopoulos, a former Breitbart editor and one of the most recognizable figures in the online right, spent years calling for aggressive immigration enforcement and frequently taunting undocumented immigrants. That history was not lost on critics after DHS used his own case to tout the administration’s deportation push.
In a statement posted to X, DHS described Yiannopoulos as an “illegal alien from the United Kingdom” and encouraged other undocumented immigrants to use the CBP Home App to arrange their own departure, including a $3,000 payment and a free flight for those who self-deport. The agency warned that anyone who does not leave voluntarily “will be arrested and deported without a chance to return.”
Right-wing commentator Laura Loomer, who once worked with Yiannopoulos, has claimed credit for his arrest, saying she reported him to DHS on two separate occasions.
The case is likely to deepen the immigration debate within conservative media. Yiannopoulos’ removal gives enforcement hard-liners a high-profile example of the system working, but it also exposes the movement to mockery, given how prominently he once stood for the same policies that ultimately landed him on an ICE plane.
