Ohio Family Confronts Knife-Wielding Intruder Who Invoked Religious Threat in Easter Sunday Driveway Incident
A quiet Easter Sunday morning in Warren County, Ohio, was shattered by a confrontation that has left a local family shaken and authorities investigating an alleged act of targeted aggression. Home surveillance footage, released by the family, shows a tense encounter where a man allegedly brandished a knife and threatened a homeowner while invoking religious language.
The incident began in the early hours of Sunday when, according to Tiffany Miller, a vehicle with its headlights off pulled into their driveway. Security cameras recorded the driver, later identified by the Warren County Sheriff's Office as 23-year-old Anthony Long of Cincinnati, kneeling on the pavement as if in prayer before approaching the home.
"We were asleep when we heard the knocking," Miller recounted. "It was persistent and grew more forceful." After a second, more aggressive attempt to gain entry, Miller's husband, Andy, went outside to investigate, especially after one of their daughters was expected home.
Footage shows Andy asking the stranger, "Hey bud, you knocking on the door?" The suspect's immediate reply, authorities allege, was: "I’ll kill you in the name of Allah." The situation escalated rapidly as the suspect allegedly produced a knife. Andy retreated, shouting warnings, while the suspect briefly pursued a family member's vehicle before fleeing the scene.
"This was a deeply frightening and dangerous situation that could have turned deadly in an instant," Miller stated. No injuries were reported.
Anthony Long was arrested shortly after the incident. He faces multiple misdemeanor charges including aggravated menacing, trespassing, and criminal damage. Court records show bail has been set at over $75,000, predominantly cash-bond. The Warren County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest but declined to comment on a potential motive, citing the ongoing investigation.
Legal analysts note that while the suspect's alleged statements introduce a religious element, prosecutors will need to establish intent and context for any potential hate crime enhancement, which currently is not among the filed charges.
