Patrick Clancy, New Wife to Give First Interview Since Lindsay Clancy Mistrial: ‘I Don’t Understand How the Story Has Been So Twisted’

Patrick Clancy will speak publicly on television for the first time since the murder trial of his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, ended in a mistrial, appearing with his new wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, on CBS News’ “60 Minutes” this Sunday.
The interview, filmed over two days, is expected to cover his grief over the deaths of his three children and the wave of social media conspiracy theories that have followed him in recent weeks. Danis will appear alongside him.
Lindsay Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse, was charged in the 2023 deaths of the couple’s three children: 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan. She admitted killing them, and her defense argued she was suffering from postpartum psychosis, raising the central question of whether she could be held legally responsible.
After jurors deadlocked on Sept. 4, the judge declared a mistrial. One holdout refused to find Lindsay Clancy not criminally responsible for the children’s deaths. The case is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 29, when prosecutors are expected to say whether they will seek a retrial.
The case has drawn intense national attention and become a flashpoint in discussions about postpartum mental illness, criminal responsibility and the legal system’s response to maternal mental health crises. It also has fueled an online ecosystem of speculation and misinformation that has targeted Patrick Clancy.
Patrick Clancy has not spoken on camera in the three and a half years since his children were killed. In a clip shared with Yahoo News, Danis describes her husband, whom she married in April 2026, as “the most selfless father and supportive partner.”
The couple is expected to push back on online speculation about their relationship. “I don’t understand how the story has been so twisted,” Danis says in the program. “I was just a girl that met a guy running in Central Park on a really cold Saturday. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.”
The interview also promises to address the “vile” conspiracy theories that have trailed the family online. Patrick Clancy has faced false claims, including suggestions that he was linked to his children’s deaths. His attorney, Howard Cooper, has called for an end to “these blatant falsehoods” and threatened legal action against those responsible.
More than three years after the killings, Patrick Clancy reflects in the interview on how he remains connected to his children. In released excerpts, he tells correspondent Ross Douthat that he still talks to them “all the time.”
“Do they help you?” Douthat asks.
“I like to believe they do. It’s a way I stay connected to them,” Clancy replies.
While the two eldest children, Cora and Dawson, were pronounced dead the night of the attack, Callan, the youngest, was taken to the ICU and placed on a ventilator. He died three days later. In released clips, Clancy grows emotional as he recalls his youngest son’s final days at Boston Children’s Hospital. During the trial, he testified that Callan “was just a happy baby.”
The interview will revisit the night of Jan. 24, 2023, when Patrick Clancy returned home and found his three children in the basement after calling 911 for Lindsay, who had jumped from a second-floor window. Lindsay Clancy has been held at a state-run hospital since 2023.
In his testimony, Patrick Clancy said he found his then-wife injured in the backyard of their Duxbury, Mass., home. He told the dispatcher he was going to check on the children; moments later, he cried out after finding them in the basement. According to CBS News, Clancy spoke at length in the “60 Minutes” interview about what happened in the moments after he arrived home that night, although no quotes have yet been released.
The full interview will air Sunday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. ET/PT on the CBS Television Network and will also stream on Paramount+.
