Pega Offers Responsible AI Tools Free to Clients—Can It Fortify PEGA’s Recurring Revenue Moat?

Pegasystems has made general availability of Customer Engagement Studio the centerpiece of a broader push to bring responsible AI deeper into its customer engagement stack. The newly released suite, delivered as part of Pega Infinity 26 and highlighted this week at PegaInnovate Melbourne, adds governance, automation and ethical AI capabilities to Pega Customer Decision Hub. For current customers, the tools will not carry an extra price tag, a decision Pega has framed as a way to accelerate adoption across its installed base.
The pricing choice is more than a marketing move. By folding Customer Engagement Studio into the standard Infinity release, Pegasystems is trying to make itself more essential to enterprise decisioning and workflow environments. In practice, that can deepen switching costs and strengthen the long-term recurring revenue profile that the PEGA bull-bear debate is built around.
Investors have heard the AI product story before, however. The stock’s near-term performance will still hinge on execution across cloud services and annual contract value growth—two areas where Pega has delivered inconsistent results. Recent quarters have shown year-over-year revenue growth but also some misses versus consensus, underscoring how disruptions and costs can cut both ways.
The strategic significance of Infinity 26 is that it ties Pega’s responsible AI message to its larger agentic framework and governance layer. That connection could help Pega stand out in a crowded field of CRM and automation vendors, where differentiation often comes down to auditability, integration and depth of platform. It may also ease concerns from large enterprises worried about complexity and compliance when deploying AI at scale.
Optimists see a clear runway. Current projections in the company narrative point to $2.2 billion in revenue and $345.7 million in earnings by 2029, translating to a fair value of $43.00 per share—about 28% above the current price. More cautious analysts, though, estimate revenue near $2.3 billion and earnings of roughly $326 million by 2029, with some fair-value scenarios running 26% lower. Those widely divergent views reflect the same unresolved tension: strong positioning versus lumpy execution.
Ultimately, the new free-to-access AI tools enlarge Pega’s platform story and give customers a controlled, governed way to scale decisioning. Whether that is enough to smooth out the revenue and earnings volatility and convert product momentum into a stronger moat is the key question for PEGA investors.
