Salesforce Defies Market Gloom as Analyst Bets Big on Fin AI Acquisition

It was a rough day for most tech stocks on Tuesday, with the broader market sliding on sour sentiment. But Salesforce managed to buck the trend, climbing more than 2% after a fresh analyst note rekindled investor enthusiasm for the customer-relationship management giant.

Patrick Walravens, an analyst at Citizens, reaffirmed his market-outperform (buy) rating and $315 price target on the stock — a target that still sits more than double Salesforce’s current share price. The upgrade came at a time when many software companies are under pressure due to heavy spending on artificial intelligence, a concern that has weighed on the sector for months.

Walravens pointed to Salesforce’s recently announced acquisition of Fin, an AI-powered customer service agent startup, as a key catalyst. “Fin’s technology handles complex customer inquiries across social and traditional media,” he wrote in a research note. “It will materially strengthen Salesforce’s Agentforce platform, making it far more attractive to small and mid-sized businesses.”

The $3.6 billion deal, announced last week, underscores Salesforce’s willingness to invest aggressively in AI capabilities. The company has a history of large, strategic acquisitions — from Tableau to Slack — and has generally integrated them well. Walravens argued that Fin will follow that pattern, giving Salesforce a leading position in the fast-growing market for AI-driven customer service agents.

While the broader market remains jittery about the ROI of AI spending, Salesforce’s move appears to be winning over analysts. The company’s ability to use AI to enhance its existing platform, rather than build from scratch, could help it stand out in a crowded enterprise software field.
