Texas Teen Killed in Plano Highway Crash; Driver Faces Manslaughter Charge

A tragic collision on a Plano highway has claimed the life of a teenager and left three others injured, leading to manslaughter charges against one of the drivers involved.

The crash occurred around noon on March 2 in the 600 block of Independence Parkway. According to the Plano Police Department, a preliminary investigation suggests a blue Chevrolet Volt, driven by 30-year-old Murad Omar Houry of Plano, was traveling southbound when it crossed the center median and struck a northbound white Lincoln Navigator.

The SUV carried four occupants. Carter Heise, 15, was pronounced dead at the scene. The three other passengers in the Navigator were transported to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries. Houry, the sole occupant of the Chevrolet, was not hospitalized.

Authorities have stated that speed appears to be a contributing factor in the incident. Houry was arrested later on March 2 and charged with manslaughter. He remains held at the Collin County Jail as of Wednesday, March 4. His attorney has not yet commented on the case.

The Plano Police Department confirms its investigation into the precise circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
