Two Injured as Houthi Projectile Hits Southwestern Saudi Arabia, State Media Says

Two people were injured in southwestern Saudi Arabia late Saturday after a projectile fired by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi militia struck the Jazan region, state media reported.

The strike also damaged a mosque, other buildings and vehicles, according to the Saudi state news agency SPA, which cited civil defense authorities. Officials did not say what type of projectile was used, only that it had been launched by the Houthis.

Jazan sits along Saudi Arabia's border with Yemen, leaving the area exposed to cross-border violence tied to the conflict next door. The latest incident underscored the continuing risks to border communities and civilian infrastructure.

The Houthis have long been fighting Yemen's internationally recognized government, which Saudi Arabia backs. The years-long conflict has flared up again amid the Iran war, deepening concerns about regional instability and civilian safety.

No additional response to Saturday's attack was announced. The damage to a mosque and vehicles highlighted how quickly tensions can spill across the border and affect ordinary life in the region.
