PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Wyndham Hotels & Resorts moved to solidify its executive bench on Tuesday, naming Amit Sripathi, its former chief development officer, as its new chief financial officer. The appointment fills a key vacancy left by the departure of Michele Allen last November and triggers a broader reshuffle within the company's top ranks.

Sripathi, who joined Wyndham in 2021, steps into the CFO role immediately, succeeding interim finance chief Kurt Albert. The company stated the decision followed an extensive external and internal search. Sripathi's background is seen as a hybrid of deep financial acumen and operational experience; prior to his development role at Wyndham, he held capital markets positions at Deutsche Bank and RLJ Lodging Trust.

"Amit's unique blend of Wall Street discipline and on-the-ground leadership during a period of sustained growth made him the standout choice," said Wyndham CEO Geoff Ballotti in the announcement. Under Sripathi's previous oversight, Wyndham notched 20 consecutive quarters of organic net room growth.

Concurrently, Wyndham promoted David Wilner to the role of chief development officer for North America. Wilner, a veteran of the La Quinta brand which Wyndham acquired in 2018, most recently served as senior vice president of franchise development. Ballotti highlighted Wilner's expertise in translating owner needs into growth, particularly across newer prototype brands like ECHO Suites and Microtel.

The leadership realignment arrives as Wyndham reaffirms its full-year 2026 outlook, initially provided last month. The company projects global RevPAR to range from a 1.5% decline to a 0.5% increase, with net room growth anticipated between 4% and 4.5%. Earlier this year, Sripathi identified the extended-stay segment as a critical focus area for the company's 2026 strategy, suggesting his promotion may signal a reinforced commitment to that growth vector.

Industry Reactions:

"A smart, internal promotion. Sripathi knows the Wyndham ecosystem intimately and has already driven results. This continuity is valuable in a uncertain economic climate for hospitality."Michael Torres, Hospitality Analyst at Berenson Capital.

"Promoting the development guy to CFO? Seems like Wyndham is prioritizing growth at all costs over financial stewardship. Let's see if the numbers hold up when the next downturn hits."Sarah Chen, Managing Partner at Alpine Creek Ventures. (Chen's comment reflects a more skeptical view on the operational-to-finance career shift.)

"David Wilner's promotion is the underrated story here. His deep roots with franchisees, especially from the La Quinta integration, are crucial for executing Wyndham's unit growth targets in a competitive North American market."Robert Gibson, Former Hotel Executive and Industry Consultant.
